Wilsons fame surpassed that of the United States in 2014 after she was cast in Showtimes The Affair. In this show, Wilson performed the role of Alison Lockhart who is a young troubled woman from a dark background. Lockhart is a lover of the love of her life, Noah Solloway. Wilson received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress of an Television Series in Drama 2015 together with Mauratierney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson in an interview with British Vogue during the year 2015 stated that she was enjoying playing characters from two different perspective. Noah imagines Alison's sexy, confident, irresponsible sexy side. She sees herself in as a completely different person, one who on the outside is dull and in the shadows and trying not to be noticed. The actress said that she believes America is now so moral, and so judgemental that events on this show seem shocking. Wilson was a part of the show until 2018, to the dismay of many viewers. surprise, however she wasn't clear on the specifics. During a CBS This Morning Interview in August 2018, Wilson said, "I did want to leave, but I'm not able to talk about why." "The Little Stranger More recently Wilson has turned to more film roles. She was in 2016 when she appeared as the Pretty Thing from The House in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing. And in 2017, appeared as the cryptic PT Stella, in the sci-fi rom-com How to Talk to Girls at Parties. To add to her horror credits Wilson will be a part in the British movie adaptation to The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller was inspired by the Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson will also produce the film.
